My daughter once told me about having a poem accepted by her school’s literary journal. When I congratulated her, she tried to downplay the accomplishment.

“Well, thanks, but they accept everyone.”

I hear similar things from writers I know every day.

“You know who they didn’t accept? The people who didn’t have the guts to submit.”
